As our move to the 17th arrondissement of Paris is quickly approaching, PCA Student Life Counselor Verena and Communications Officer Zainab, will be sharing their tips and great spots around our new campus over the summer!

Today’s focus is public transportation, especially the recent RER E extension westward.

The first part of this extension includes the opening of 3 brand new stations,  Neuilly-Porte Maillot “Palais des congrès,” La Défense Grande Arche and Nanterre-la-Folie.

With this extension, PCA students can now easily access campus by descending at the Porte Maillot station. Additionally, the new generation RER E trains have been greatly improved which makes the experience overall more comfortable for the passengers.

Located 35 meters underground, the station is illuminated by natural light. Its design is part of a redevelopment of one of the most iconic entrances to Paris, along the major axis that runs from the Carrousel du Louvre to the Obelisk at the Place de la Concorde, then to the Arc de Triomphe, and finally extending to the Grande Arche. With the simultaneous extension of tramway T3, the RER C, and Metro Line 1, a true transport hub is emerging at Porte Maillot!

However, it is worth noting that until the end of the year, the RER will operate only during off-peak hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and until 8 p.m. on weekends.

The trains are expected to run normally at the beginning of 2025 with 1 train every 4 minutes during peak hours and 1 train every 6 minutes during off-peak hours.
